The national flag of the USSR was hoisted on icebreaker "Kapitan Belousov". It was the first icebreaker equipped with a diesel-electrical power plant.

Diesel-electric ship "Ob" was the first Soviet research ship that reached Antarctica.

The nuclear icebreaker "Lenin" was launched.

The nuclear icebreaker "Lenin" sailed to central Arctic to organize the floating station "North Pole - 10". It was the first winter voyage.

MSASC was reorganized into Murmansk Department of Arctic and Icebreaker Fleet of Northern Shipping Company.

For the first time in history the Soviet diesel-electric ship "Indigirka" was awarded the prize of the port Montreal. The captain of the vessel was A.F. Pinezhaninov.

January 1, 1967

Department of Arctic and Icebreaker Fleet were expelled from Northern Shipping Company. Murmansk Shipping Company was established.

The nuclear icebreaker "Arktika" is the first surface vessel that reached the North Pole.

The national flag of the USSR was hoisted on "Dmitriy Donskoy", the leading arctic bulk-container carrier.

1978

The start of year-round navigation in Arctic – Murmansk – Dudinka – Murmansk.

May – July 1978

The first high-latitude arctic voyage of the nuclear icebreaker "Sibir" which escorted the carrier "Kapitan Myshevskiy" from Murmansk to Magadan.

The national flag of the USSR was hoisted on "Norilsk", the leading multipurpose icebreaking carrier.

Multipurpose, high-latitude arctic voyage of the nuclear icebreaker "Sibir" to the North Pole.

August 1990

The first commercial voyage of the nuclear icebreaker "Rossiya" to the North Pole with tourists on board. Such voyages have become regular and now they are carried out by nuclear icebreakers "Yamal" and "Sovetskiy Soyuz".

Reorganization of the business legal structure of the shipping company. JSC "Murmansk Shipping Company" was founded.

JSC JSC 'LUKOIL Arctic Tanker', a subsidiary of oil company "LUKoil", bought controlling interest of the Company.

The Company was the first among the Russian shipping companies to obtain the "Certificate of Quality Management System Conformity" confirming the international level of its activity.

1999

MSCO purchased the tanker "Kotlas". It was the beginning of a new kind of activity – oil transportation.

August 2000

The first oil loading at the offshore Varandey Terminal in the Pechora Sea on tanker "Volgograd" was done. A new marine transportation route for exports of crude from Timan-Pechora oil-and-gas - beating province was launched.

An experiment of unconventional usage of the nuclear icebreaker as a offshore nuclear power plant was successfully performed. Electricity generated by the nuclear icebreaker "Sovetskiy Soyuz" was used by shore-based subdivision.

Ice-strengthened class tankers "Alexander Sledzyuk" and "Georgiy Kononovich" entered the fleet.

September 2002

High-duty Arctic Submerged Loading Terminal started operating on Varandey.

Export crude oil transportation in the Kola Bay started successfully. Oil Loading Terminal was constructed with a capacity of 5.4 million tons of hydrocarbon raw material per year.

Murmansk Shipping Company purchased the icebreaker "Vladimir Ignatyuk".

August 2003

Overhaul-period renewal of the nuclear-powered icebreaker Arktika up to 175 000 hours and 32 years of operation was successfully finished.

Murmansk Shipping Company was awarded an order "Glory of Russia", the highest Russian award of public acknowledgement.

The nuclear icebreaker "Arktika" passed the millionth mile for the first time since she has been launched.

October 2005

The national flag of the RF was hoisted on the tanker "Nataly", her deadweight is over 147,000 tons. There were no vessels of such deadweight, sailing under the flag of the RF, before this tanker has been purchased by Murmansk Shipping Company.

August 2006

The national flag of the RF was hoisted on the mv "Grumant", the leading ice-class bulker.

March 2007

The national flag of the RF was hoisted on the nuclear icebreaker "50 let Pobedy". The icebreaker was transferred to asset management of Murmansk Shipping Company .

August 2007

Renewal of the fleet. The national flag of the RF was hoisted on the mv "Pomorye", the second ice-class bulker, "Grumant" type. The national flag of the RF was hoisted on the tanker "Nadezhda", the second supertanker, "Nataly" type.

30 anniversary since the nuclear icebreaker "Arktika" has reached the North Pole
